I have loved massaging people (and animals) for as long as I can remember. It really started when I was maybe about 5. My mom would come home from work and, smart woman that she is, would have both my little brother and I take off her shoes and stockings for her. She then would ask us to massage her feet. She was very smooth. I remember this so vividly because it gave me so much joy to be able to help my "mommy" by 'fixing' her sore spots. My brother didn't like it so much, so I usually ended up massaging both her feet, using my propped up knees to balance each foot on as I sat in front of her on the floor.
I pretty much just continued to work out my mom's issues in her tissues for most of my formative years. We traveled a lot- sometimes taking long bus tours where I would sit in the seats behind my mother to work on her pinched nerves in her neck. I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew I wanted her to feel better.
This is what I usually tell people who say they would like to give massages to a loved one: no matter how you massage them, as long as your mindset is to provide comfort and relief, the massage will feel good! It doesn't matter if you don't know the muscles you're working on.. usually. As long as you're not digging into bone! :)
I love what I do- I make people feel better. I make people happy all day long. Seriously- what could be better than that?? Being massaged myself, of course (see picture)!
Until we meet again...
